Lighthouse Candles Kentucky

History of Lighthouse Candles

Friends and neighbors loved the scent of the aromas that they smelled as they walked past the small apartment at 108 West Main Street in Owingsville, Kentucky. Little did anyone know that the candles being produced in that tiny kitchen would be sold nation wide fifteen years later. My youngest daughter, Jennifer, had a thriving candle business in Ohio and it was she that encouraged me to try my hand at the art of making candles. Since I was living on a very tight budget and needed extra income I decided to take her advice and accept this new challenge. I borrowed money from a friend, Charles Ray, to purchase the bare necessities to get started. Charles Ray was intrigued with my new business and volunteered to help. We were definitely novice in candle making but extremely motivated to make a candle of outstanding quality.

The name, Lighthouse Candles, was chosen by my mother who is 94 years young and resides in Owingsville. She is a good and faithful steward of the Bible and has always been inspired by the association with lighthouses. She felt that this would be a name that one would remember. This was before the name lighthouse became so popular.

Lighthouse Candles use high oil content along with quality custom blended oils from the finest perfumers in the industry. Lighthouse Candles are still produced explicitly by hand and shipped to stores nation wide. We feel that the old fashion method of hand pouring the candles ensures that each candle has the same amount of fragrance from top to bottom. This makes for one of the most highly scented candles on the market. Lighthouse Candles are wicked (lead free), poured, labeled and inspected by experienced hands. Each 16oz. candle burns for an average of 120 hours.

Charles Ray and I would like to thank our customers for their continued support and spreading the word. It is our customers that provide the advertising for Lighthouse Candles and we thank you for that. As many of you know, Charles Ray and I are married now and continue to manufacture Lighthouse Candles. We have a larger facility that also includes a small retail store located 0.2 mile off Highway US 60 East on Highway 826/Cave Run Lake Road near Salt Lick, Kentucky. If you have any questions or concerns about our candles, please give us a call. We not only pride ourselves in producing great candles but also on maintaining good customer service.
